5 sleeps

bugger bum poo... dad is having surgery today, having 'done' his achilles yesterday, at the gym. this turn of events means mum & dad cannot travel to bali on sunday, with us - i just can't believe it... my excitement over our pending departure - five sleeps to go! - is now very much bittersweet.

puree

cleo tried two new things today; avocado and a baby rusk... neither was a massive 'yay' but then, she didn't vomit by way of 'nay', either. her food repertoire also includes pureed apple which, again, she is non-plussed over.

just over a week until we leave for bali - weeeeeeee!

this morning i asked max what we should do. he suggested we visit his old mates at daycare, so that's what we did.

ouch...

max wanted to watch the 'sponge bob square pants' dvd - again. i told him he'd turn into sponge bob, if he wasn't careful. precocious child retorted with: you'll turn into an iced coffee if you are not careful.

ouch! got me where it hurts!

really listen

glorious day here! after a run of rainy days, today - sunshine! the four of us rode our bikes to the local shops... cleo's first time in the bike carrier! after stocking up with morning tea and iced coffee, we stopped by the park for a play / read of the sunday paper / breast-feed / pushing max & cleo on the swings / racing down the 'big slide' with max...

later, seizing the day of sunshine, aaron & i pottered in the backyard, tidying up around the pool, finally packing away various 'summer time' items, and a spot of gardening, even! get this - i even crawled under the cubby, to sweep out leaves! not an easy task... and i now remember why i baulked at completing this job when pregnant with cleo!

late this afternoon, i listened to the wireless... jjj hottest 100 of all time! it's not often that i listen to music these days. i mean, really listen. today, i listened. and enjoyed.

3am...

go on, call me 'mad'.

my alarm sounded this morning at 3am. i rose quietly, dressed & drove alone to a local shopping centre's car park, to join four other cars in a queue... a queue to sell at that morning's swap meet. i am beginning to wonder if i am mad? didn't i say after the last swap meet, 'never again!'?

i dozed.

i woke just after 5am, to the sounds of vehicles moving. !pushing in! i was filled with that special kind of queasiness reserved for those moments on just.waking.up, when one needs to be on.the.ball. so, seconds after waking, i started my car, slammed on the horn, and pushed my way back into my rightful place!

for some reason, the usual organisers of today's swap meet did not appear... so, a renegade swap meet was had. we were rebels! no fees for selling, no fees for entry - bonus! i spread my wares o-u-t!

just after 515am. with my stall beginning to take shape, i heard 'hi mummy!' before me stood max, bright eyed and wearing his pyjamas & a beanie... and aaron, appearing stressed & exhausted... and cleo, snug in her pram, beaming at me - she had apparently cried on/off since i left the house, a whole two hours earlier... she must've sensed my absence? super-sonic sense of smell, perhaps?!

so... cleo was now in my care... tricky! yet still, i somehow managed to sell a HUGE amount of 'stuff', and amazingly, despite the most expensive item costing $5, i made.... over $300!!! hoorah!

cleo's got the blues

today! aaron has flown to port hedland for work ph34r.gif hopefully he'll be home by friday night ph34r.gif and hopefully cleo will be healthy again before then! she is coping as well as she can, with this god-awful cough, but i can just imagine how much her throat hurts - when she vocalises, she is very raspy and sounds like a blues singer. feeding LOTS, for comfort as well as nutrition... either way, it's tiring, especially when it's so frequent through the early hours of the morning yyawn.gif just as well she's cute / gorgeous / adorable wwhistle.gif

thriller

happy birthday aaron xxx

RIP michael jackson.
my brother & i had MJ wind-cheaters 'back in the day' wwhistle.gif 'thriller' iron-ons! mine was red, lee's black. we looked so cool at roller-skating! wish i knew where these were...!

aaron love-love-loves our new tv (his main birthday present, along with two shirts). i heard him say 'i love you, baby' and i said 'i love you too' and he laughed and said he was talking to the tv tongue.gif

29/06/2009

cleo is still unwell - her coughing sounds just awful, and sleeping is not really happening. ah well...

so.windy.here. wondering what we'll see out on the roads today? the only reason we WILL be heading out is max has A.N.O.T.H.E.R birthday party to attend... we were at one yesterday, too rolleyes.gif at yesterday's party, max dressed up as ben 10 - again! - and cleo wore fairy wings = cute!

...

back from the loveliest little birthday party this morning. surprisingly enough, the 15 ohmy.gif or so boys were very attentive towards the party entertainer (a youngish girl) who organised interesting games & activities, and made balloon creations while the kids ate on picnic blankets on the lounge floor original.gif we gave the birthday boy a very cool little periscope - max wants one too, of course!

max's latest - and it's oh-so-annoying - is... (while pointing to a TV advert, or an item on a shop shelf, or something that catches his eye in a brochure) can you buy me that for my birthday? i hear this many times a week, drives me to distraction wacko.gif not to mention sounds so consumerist and greedy ph34r.gif

cleo asleep, max playing lego, and i should be filling out a very boring form ph34r.gif but am giving myself a break from it. shhhh!

...

and on it goes... max suggested that we buy 'connect four' for my dad's birthday roll2.gif and tonight said - kid you not - 'when i'm 28, can you buy me that?' while pointing at a hang-glider wacko.gif wacko.gif wacko.gif

i was VERY restrained at the baby & kids market on the weekend - only made four purchases ohmy.gif unheard of! for max, a hoodie and LS top, and for cleo, a straw handbag and a stuffed elephant made from a hessian-y fabric biggrin.gif

finally finished the application from hell... trying to get aaron covered for 'death and disability' through his super. the forms, the forms oomg2.gif so many forms....

30/06/2009

and on it goes... max wants a gun which squirts string 'on the birthday when i am 71' roll2.gif

20 weeks

26/06/2009

cleo is 20 weeks today
oomg2.gif i weighed her this morning, 6.3kg wub.gif i must check max's book... will be interesting to compare! can i say how much i like my local child health nurse? she is a really on-the-ball, interested, kind woman, and strikes the balance between 'friendly' and 'professional' without veering too far down either path. oh, and today she told me i'm looking very slim grin.gif so that's one more reason i like her grin.gif

aaron's birthday tomorrow! 34! our plans for the day include a cooked breaky, aaron ripping out our old heater tthumbs.gif and doing subsequent patch-up of the wall and roof, and a family dinner that evening.

whoops: forgot i have a blog...!

24/06/2009

one year ago today, we were given the news we'd been dying to hear - pregnant! wub.gif

i'm going to make porridge in the slow cooker tonight - anyone tried this before?

25/06/2009

don't bother with porridge making in the slow cooker! not really worth the bother, nor the electricity! aaron freaked when he realised i'd been cooking oats for ten hours!

i just received a 'thank you' email from the state library, as i'd added a suggestion to their 'box' - it's nice to be appreciated tthumbs.gif
