Our Balimoon: Sept-Oct 2010

Outside our bungalow @ Legian Beach Hotel (gorgeous hotel, with the only downside being our room was very small!  Family room for us next time!  Check out the humidity; so thick, you could touch it!

It took Cleo a day to get in the pool, then another day to actually enjoy the experience... then getting her OUT became the difficult task.  I think she thought she could actually swim!

Gatecrashed a wedding at our hotel!  Photos taken AFTER the real thing!

Max loving his new shades.

We decided against buying a kite this trip, seeing as we already have several at home!  Max had a turn flying these kids' kite; we paid some rupiah for the favour.

At Papa's, whose owner also has Papa's in Freo.

Cleo has it all happening here!

Eddy Maguire, or so he tells us!  We usually buy some noisy, annoying toys from Eddy each holiday.

Max loving the mani :)

Aaron having a fish spa!  Max and I joined in, too.  The sensation is very difficult to describe.  The fish are imported from Turkey.  They nibble off the dead skin - ewwww.

Finding fun whilst waiting for dinner to arrive 101

I'll have...

Aaron couldn't decide between the yellow or the orange, so bought both.

The look of love... Aaron's favourite dessert of all-time... The Volcano, at Bianco.

Who was it who said Max wouldn't pass out in the pram on this trip?!

At the pond by the entrance of Padma Hotel, where mum and dad stayed.

Getting this photo was the high-point of our meal at this restaurant - D R E A D F U L !

Dad with the kids.  We caught this ferry to Nusa Lembongan, with approximately 10,000 Japanese tourists.  What an experience!

At Wayan and Friends Cafe.  See that coin in the frog's mouth?  Max broke it not long after this photo was taken... the staff were terrified of their boss' reaction, so we ended up returning to the cafe several times, to make amends with Wayan.  Eventually met up with him, and after a sincere apology from Max, all was forgiven.  Phew!  Aaron and I were beginning to wonder how much we'd get slugged for the broken coin...!

Cleo in the new lagoon pool at the Padma.

Biggest snail in the world.  Really!

Underground house on Lembongan.  I climbed down, and led some Japanese girls out... they freaked out by the confined spaces.

Seaweed farming on Lembongan.

That's a lot of nori.

We visited a sacred temple, hence the scarf on Max and skirts on Aaron and I.

Morning tea break with our wonderful driver Barman / Nyoman; very honest and kind, with excellent English and great local knowledge.  s_barman69@yahoo.com

Max desperately wanted this mask.  Now we're home, he's too scared to have it in his bedroom.  D'oh.

The walk way to the reception at Legian Beach Hotel.  So pretty at night, with candles in the bowls.

Village festival.

Max trying his hand at coffee grinding!

At the very pretty BAS agrowisata.

We tried complimentary coffees and teas, all grown in the plantation above.

I tried Luwak coffee; the coffee beans are first eaten by the luwak (paradoxurus), then the in-tact beans are collected from the luwak's poo.  The coffee is the most expensive in the world, at around $70AUD for a jar of the stuff.  It was okay, I suppose... clearly I am not a connoiseur!

Barman was so great with Cleo and Max, and they both took a shine to him, too.

Mt Batur.  The last time I visited Kintamani to see this mountain was with Donna, 11 years ago.  The view on that day was extremely cloudy.

Biggest prawn cracker.  Ever.

More shots of the festival.

Favourite shot of the holiday!

Cleo helping a new friend stack shelves.

Max and Aaron made this bubble wrap teeshirt because... well, I am not sure why?  The silly things you do on holiday, I suppose!

The flight home.  A gazillion times better than the flight to Denpasar; Cleo vomited in the check-in line, and another ten or so times on the plane.  She arrived at Denpasar in a nappy, everything else had to be binned!  Aaron and I stank (no change of clothes for us...) and Max was gagging every time he smelt a whiff of vomit.  Oh joy.  The plane crew told us we couldn't disembark until the Indonesian authorities confirmed Cleo was not a risk to national health and well-being... but after waiting and waiting and waiting, no-one showed up, so we were allowed to leave the plane!  Cleo's tummy bug soon passed to Max, then me... thankfully, by day 3, we were all well again!  It was not a pretty start to our holiday!
